C282-15 - Emergency electrical power supply for buildings
When a building or facilities normal power supply fails, use of an emergency generator can mean the difference between a safe and unsafe environment for building residents. The sixth edition of CSA C282 - Emergency Electrical Power Supply for Buildings outlines design, installation, operation, maintenance, and testing of emergency generators and associated equipment for providing an emergency electrical power supply to electrical loads. It applies to buildings that require an emergency electrical power supply by the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) as well as the essential electrical systems, where emergency generators are intended for use in health care facilities (HCFs).
First published in 2009, the latest edition of C289 includes many key updates and changes including new definitions, revised requirements, additional guidelines and informative annexes.
