Overview

Poor indoor air quality can adversely impact the health, comfort and productivity of patients and staff. When they are inappropriately designed, installed or maintained, HVAC systems may contribute excessive energy consumption or longer hospital stays and complications for patients. The third edition of the standard, one in a series of Standards on the design, construction and maintenance of health care facilities, sets out the special requirements for HVAC systems.
