CAN/CSA-Z614-14 - Children's playspaces and equipment
Playground safety depends on proper design and maintenance of play structures. Ongoing inspection and maintenance of these structures, equipment, and surfacing materials is a shared responsibility among users, owners/operators, and manufacturers to create not only an interesting place of recreation, but a foundation where children can play without risk of serious injury. The fifth edition of this unique safety standard balances safety, fun and accessibility. It addresses safety measures that help minimize exposure to serious injuries resulting from falls from heights, entanglements and head entrapments. It also includes requirements to address a range of injuries that could result from such things as protrusions, sharps, and trip hazards as well as exposure to hazardous substances. Additional guidance for childhood development and accessibility can be found in informative annexes.
